Friday, September 26, 2003 ( 1:39 AM ) shut up christine PART TWO Two years ago I wrote a story set in a time frame two years later. At the time I had a really bad crush on a guy but he didn’t like me back so I wrote the story to get over him and have closure. Well two years later is today. Things didn’t turn out the way I thought they would, so I wrote a revised edition of the story. So back to the future. The old story was: Two years later…….. Christine was walking back to her car after class when she spotted something familiar from the corner of her eye. She squinted to get a better look….the same quick gait, the same haircut, the same body, the same warm face she remembered….but two years older. “Hey!” Christine ran across the parking lot and tapped him on the shoulder. “Hi. It’s me, Christine. Christine from Brisa. Do you remember me?” “Uhhhhh… oh yeah! Hey, how are you? I haven’t seen you in such a long time.” The two old friends proceeded to small talk…simple stuff like the weather, classes, and things that happened to them since leaving. Just hearing the sound of his voice brought a smile to her face…she remembered it all like it was yesterday. After about 15 minutes, they ended their short but genuine conversation. “It was nice seeing you again, Christine.” “It was nice seeing you too. Take care of yourself, and good luck with everything.” With that, they bear-hugged each other and went their separate ways. Christine walked to her car and was about to get in when she took one last look back…he was already far off in the distance. She smiled, got in her car, and drove away. And that was the last time they saw each other. **REVISED STORY ** Two years later that day…….. Christine was walking back to her car after class when she spotted something familiar from the corner of her eye. She squinted to get a better look….the same quick gait, the same haircut, the same body… wait, wtf? “That’s not a person, you idiot,” she said to herself. “It’s only a piece of rice stuck to the lens of my glasses! Ack I hope no one noticed.” She picked the rice off, ate it, then scoped the parking lot for her friend. “Hey!” Christine ran across the parking lot and socked him on the shoulder. “You jerk! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me I had rice on my face!” “Ahhaha, you should eat slower next time. So we gonna eat lunch again next week?” “Okay fine.” As they were walking back to her car, they reminisced about the past two years and Brisa…she remembered it all like it was yesterday. “I can’t believe I had a crush on you two years ago! Man, was I stuuuupid! Hah I’m just kidding yo. I think its cool how we’re still good friends and that we still talk online almost everyday.” “Could you imagine it any other way?” “Nope.” “Me neither.” With that, they bear hugged each other…but the Hallmark moment was cut short cuz he made the loudest stinkiest fart ever. “Uggh you’re so gross! I can’t believe I’m still your friend,” she smiled. Then they got into her car and drove away. They met up for dinner the next week, and the weeks after that. I like this ending much better :) #
