I've mentioned this before but I think it's worth mentioning again...
if you ever have a free Saturday night, you should come by the Seva Cafe at the Royal Cup Coffee Shop, 994 Redondo Ave, Long Beach, CA 90804
hours are 5-10pm every Saturday
The reason why this place is so special is because there are no prices on the menu - your food has been paid for by someone else.
The only focus is to serve you with love, and all the workers are volunteers.
There's no expectation for you to leave money behind but we give you the opportunity to pay for another guest's meal, if you choose to.
Again, technically the food isn't free, because at the end of the night someone has to pay for it.
Any profits go to an organization that takes care of 6,000 slum children in India, and even if there aren't any profits (haven't been for a few months), the Cafe still sends money. (awesomeness)
Ideally, they would love to keep the cafe going for as long as possible, but currently they are running on reserves. I think they will be open for a couple more months before the funds run out, so you should stop by while you still can!
You can volunteer as well, they could always use extra hands (tell them in advance)
