      ( 11:20 PM ) shut up christine
what i love about Be the Cause is that these aren't just service projects
of course i want to help other people, but ultimately i am the one who benefits the most.

we're beginning to plan our Awareness Monologues where the format is similar to the Vagina Monologues but in this case our topic is domestic violence.
we just had our first meeting and when Supun read aloud the domestic violence checklist, in my head i was thinking check, check, check, check check check and check.

immediately i said to myself oh my god, don't be dramatic. every relationship is going to have problems. no one is perfect. i was never locked in a closet or beat with a golf club, unlike someone i know. it was never like that. things happen, but i was never one of "those girls."
i'm not trying to say i know better than them-- its just that i would know, or i think i would know, if it was happening to me. i would know the difference, i hope.

when does a crappy relationship become domestic violence? a few of us will be going through a 40 hr domestic violence training course in preparation for this event. i know that whatever we learn is going to help us put on a really great, meaningful show, but more than anything else, this is for me. this will help ME define that line so that i have no doubt when it's being crossed. for future reference.

Hey Christine!

I feel bad that I've missed so many of your blogs lately... I mean to check them, but it seems I check them at the wrong times.

I think I've missed a lot re: this post, but I can say this: if someone you love is making you feel inferior, be it through words or lack of words or physical actions, then your someone is not for you.

It's a tough thing to try to differentiate but if you KNOW, you KNOW... it took me 41 years to meet the woman of my dreams; she has every right to joke around about me (and she exercises that right :) ) because she is not the least bit abusive... she can say she's having a Michael Moment and it makes us both laugh because I KNOW the woman never means to hurt me and she knows it too... it's a wonderful thing to know.

I know I've missed a lot but I'm just saying: don't settle for being abused. Coolness is out there, probably just around the corner and waiting for you to give up. It worked for me, anyway :)

Hang tough C!
