i just got my exam back, stapled to an entire page of typed, single spaced comments from my professor pointing out every fallacy of my paper
not in a mean way
but the point is to make every sentence and every word of your argument so unbreakable that your opponent can't refute it
then if they accept each of your premises, in the end they are forced to accept your conclusion.

my philosophy professor is this calm benevolent gray-haired man, in his 50s or 60s
one of my classmates described him as being soft-spoken, but when he's done talking, you feel like he used a blow horn
sometimes i find myself sitting there with my mouth open
his intelligence is.....spectacular. breathtaking, really.
i find him more magnificent each day
