( 2:10 AM ) shut up christine
i'm going over some paperwork for an upcoming mental health clinical rotation.
below are excerpts from a handout entitled Standards for Safety and Professionalism
i'm sure they're making it sound a lot scarier than it really is. right??
Each student is responsible for knowing who is unsafe, and for maintaining a safe, respectful distance at all times. Watch your back. Do not congregate with other students. When possible, keep your back to the wall and your arms uncrossed when you are in the hallways so that you have a better idea of the patients who are nearby.
Never, never be alone with a patient in any area of the unit. Make sure staff or fellow students are in sight at all times. Keep staff informed of your actions. When in the dayroom, unit cafeteria or other locations with patients, sit or stand close to an exit or close to staff. Be aware of your surroundings.
long, deep breath. new semester begins today.
