A little while after my mom's mom died, Mom was going through Gran's linen closet and, under the folded towels and sheets, found an enormous bag of M&Ms which Gran had hidden there who knows how long before so that Grandpa wouldn't find them and devour them before she could disperse them however she planned to. That story has popped up for almost twenty years now, and every time Mom mentions it (or I think about it) it brings smiles and laughter and discussions of the people involved.

I think John Lennon's right that "you don't take nothing with you but your soul"...but I also think that sometimes the stuff you leave behind (even stuff like stale M&Ms) might serve a soulful purpose, too, even if you didn't intend it to. :)
