Thursday, April 30, 2015 ( 3:18 PM ) shut up christine makoto sells stuff online, so we go to thrift stores often (almost daily) did i mention i quit my job in march? loads of free time i usually head straight to the book section i try to read at least one book per week just finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society -- really liked it currently reading State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. good so far but i got to one kinda "scary" part and haven't been able to pick it up again... ps i can see books, if that makes sense. when i'm reading, i can picture everything in my mind like it's a movie. the emotions, and the things that happen to characters -- i feel really connected to it somehow. reading is a weirdly intimate & interactive process for me anywho there are some books that i find all the time, in every thrift store. weird phenomenon titles i've commonly come across on thrift store shelves:
Iacocca: An Autobiography
soooo many copies! geez
i don't really want to read this book but maybe it's a sign
any of the books from the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series
The Best Life Diet
i've almost bought this book on 3 separate occasions (foreword by oprah! must be good!)
but have resisted thus far
The Cat Who Brought Down the House
i will continue adding to this list.
pps my favorite place to get secondhand books is at the Amvets thrift store near my apartment,
four paperbacks for a dollar. but a lot of the books are in bins so you have to dig
